Girls Night Review

How Girls’ Night Began

Our cherished tradition started in May 2025, when my mom reached out and asked if I wanted to join her for girls’ night. The invitation filled me with excitement—I thought I was finally being included in the exclusive get-together with my mom and her friends, something I had always looked forward to. However, my enthusiasm was a bit premature; this wasn’t her long-standing girls’ night, but actually the beginning of a new tradition for the two of us.

Since then, girls’ night has become our own special ritual. The group consists of me (Juli), my sister Terri, my niece Brittany, and my mom, Jan. Together, the four of us—spanning three generations—gather once a week to discover new places, enjoy each other’s company, and strengthen our bonds as family and as women of different ages. Sometimes, we invite guests to join us, but the rule for our outings is clear: no men allowed, with one exception made for my birthday.

To make these evenings even more meaningful, I crafted review books for us. In these, we record our thoughts on every spot we visit, rating each one on drinks, food, ambiance, service, price, and overall experience. This shared ritual has become one of the most rewarding things we do together. Family means the world to me, and I truly appreciate having this time with these special women each week.

After several months of regular gatherings, we decided to create a blog to document our adventures. Instead of trying to recall every outing from the beginning, we chose to start sharing our experiences from our current visits. Sometimes we pick our next destination at the last minute; other times we plan ahead—there’s no strict schedule or set pattern. We’re always open to suggestions for new places to try!

The main challenge we face is finding a place to meet on Monday evenings. It’s surprising how many establishments are closed or don’t offer happy hour on Mondays. This makes us wonder: shouldn’t everyone have the chance to be happy on Mondays too?
