Arrival and First Impressions

Despite feeling somewhat down, my seasonal depression seems to be kicking in a little early, and I felt hesitant about attending, I ultimately decided to join my family, knowing I would enjoy myself and regret missing out if I stayed home. The weather was beautiful, though a little chilly, and we ended up meeting later than planned.

Atmosphere and Service

Upon arrival, my initial thought was that the place resembled a typical sports bar. However, the ambiance quickly surpassed my expectations. The restaurant was quiet and spotlessly clean, likely because we were the only customers at the time. We were seated in a booth, and our server immediately stood out with her phenomenal attitude. Throughout our visit, she was attentive and engaging, even joking that she wanted to join our group. Her excellent service contributed significantly to our positive experience, making this outing the best one yet.

Happy Hour Specials and Drink Selection

During Happy Hour, the restaurant offered a variety of appealing specials, including half-priced appetizers, $3.50 well drinks, $3.50 Miller short drafts, and a family-friendly deal where kids eat free on Mondays. For my drink, I chose the Kentucky Mule, which is a spin-off of a Moscow Mule, only with Kentucky Bourbon mixed with ginger beer, and lime juice over crushed ice and served in a copper mug. However, Terri disagreed with my assessment and compared it more to bathroom cleaner; she’s never like the way the copper mug interacts with the Ginger Beer, which likely influenced her opinion. Brittany, on the other hand, agreed with me and enjoyed the Kentucky Bourbon.

For their drinks, Terri selected a Michelob Ultra, while Britt went with a caramel apple microbrew. Britt’s choice stood out as a highlight; it was so flavorful and unique that it was hard to believe such a taste could be achieved in a beer.

Appetizers and Entrées

We made the most of the half-priced appetizer special by ordering the sampler platter, which included fried pickles, areola fries (I never can get the name right), onion rings, and mozzarella sticks. Overall, the appetizers were excellent. Especially the fried pickles and the areola fries. The mozzarella sticks, however, did not stand out and were less impressive compared to the other selections. For sides, Terri and Britt each chose a Caesar salad, while I opted for wings. In my opinion, these wings were the best we have had so far. Although Cappy’s wings were good, the wings at Buffalo Wings and Rings had the perfect combination of crispiness and flavor. The only drawback was that the garlic parmesan sauce was a bit too spicy for my taste.

Overall Experience and Final Thoughts

Based on our visit, the food, beverages, ambiance, service, and price all earned a perfect score of 5 out of 5. This led us to give Buffalo Wings and Rings an overall rating of 5/5—a bar we are certain to return to in the future. Next week, Jan will be rejoining us, which is sure to make the gathering even more enjoyable.

Spending the evening with Terri and Britt was truly delightful. As I had anticipated, being in the company of my family significantly lifted my spirits. I am deeply grateful and feel blessed to have these Monday gatherings each week. Until next week!
